Virender Ranga

Hi there! I am a Postdoctoral fellow at the HZDR-TUD Felsenkeller Underground Laboratory, Dresden, Germany. I am working with Prof. Daniel Bemmerer to perform experiments which are relevant for Nuclear Astrophysics, especially CNO cycle.

During my postdoc at TIFR, Mumbai, I worked with Prof Indranil Mazumdar to explore the nuclear structure of low-lying states of light nuclei using proton and alpha-particle beams. I have experience handling scintillation detectors and associated analog & digital electronics for pulse processing. Our group at TIFR specialises in the measurement of absolute cross-sections of high-energy gamma rays. 

My doctoral research focussed on studying low-lying states of light nuclei using a proton beam. I have performed several experiments involving gamma-ray measurements for nuclear structure and gamma ray astronomy. 

My other research interests include 

• Study of the scintillation mechanism of radiation detectors

• GEANT4 simulation of the response of the radiation detectors

• Development of ROOT-based data analysis, nuclear reaction codes 

• Applications of machine learning in nuclear physics
